Comissions

I carry out various commissions related to the written word and medieval manuscript painting. It is often a word combined with decoration—calligraphy and illumination.

The word iluminare comes from the Latin lux, that is ‘light’. To illuminate a word, sentence or text means to extract it from the shadows, to lighten it up. In the Middle Ages, the decorator and illustrator of a codex was called the illuminator, that is, the one who by the means of colours brings light to, or brings out the meaning of the decorated words.

 

The works can be done on paper or parchment (which is the noblest and most durable material for this technique). The price depends on the chosen format, length of text, details of the painting decoration, and the type of materials used. It is possible to send works abroad.

 

COPIES OF MANUSCRIPT CARDS AND MINIATURES

 

As a specialist in miniature painting, I can make a copy of any miniature from a manuscript codex or illuminated card. I work on parchment using techniques developed by medieval scribes and illuminators.”

 

COPIES OF MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE DOCUMENTS

 

I have experience in producing accurate facsimiles of medieval and Renaissance documents. I carried out a major project involving such copies for the Czartoryski Museum in Kraków, which you can read about here. UNIQUE GIFTS

 

Many of the works I do are gifts for important events. Such gifts are sought by people who want a beautiful, original, hand-made item. A miniature or a document is a work of art. These are usually gifts for christenings, first holy communions, weddings, first masses, birthdays, anniversaries, or jubilees. They can also be acknowledgements, book plates, and maxims. The works are made in different sizes, on paper or parchment, richly decorated and housed in a beautiful frame.

 

DOCUMENTS, STATUTES, FILES, CHRONICLES

 

I prepare various types of documents related to the consecration of a new church or altar, certificates confirming the consecration of corner stones, foundation acts, documents commemorating particularly solemn events, e.g. the launch of cooperation, important meetings of political, social or cultural importance.

 

HAND-WRITTEN CERTIFICATES

 

I produce unique, hand-written certificates for various organisations. For several years now, I have been working with the Association of Municipalities and Counties of Małopolska, creating certificates for their annual ‘Man of the Year’ Awards Ceremony.
