Workshops in the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec

Tyniec Abbey is one of the oldest monasteries in Poland. Founded by Casimir I the Restorer in 1044, the monastery is located on a bend in the Vistula River, in close proximity to the city of Cracow.

This beautiful location on a hill on the Vistula River makes this place very popular. However, what attracts people most to Tyniec is the opportunity to breathe Benedictine spirituality right next to the community of monks living in the monastery.

The workshops, both in calligraphy and manuscript painting, are perfectly in line with the Benedictine tradition. Once, a scriptorium was vibrant with work in Tyniec. Since 2008, when the Benedictine Cultural Institute in the Tyniec Abbey began its activity, I have been regularly conducting workshops, which are a kind of echo of this old tradition. Again, you can meet here heads bent over the desks.
